Microsoft announced on Wednesday that it plans to open its first regional data center in Thailand to improve its Azure cloud servicesroulettemoneyAvailability.
The day before, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also announced a $1.7 billion investment in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud facilities in neighboring Indonesia.
"This data center area will expand the availability of Microsoft's hyperscale cloud services," the company said in a statement.
"It means that not only do you have the full capabilities of Azure in Thailand, but you also have world-class AI infrastructure," Nadella said at an event in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
Microsoft added in the statement that Thailand's data center will also help improve enterprise-class reliability, performance and comply with data retention and privacy standards.
